A coordinated and formal pilot 4-day workweek campaign has been launched in the UK. Other countries such as Ireland and New Zealand are piloting this as well. The number of U.S.-based companies adopting 4-day workweeks is also increasing.

Much of the diversity, equity, and inclusion conversation focuses on the D, and many organization's public commitments are related to diversity targets. But it's difficult to hit the diversity targets if the culture isn't one where underrepresented employees can thrive. I'm sure you know this already, but Twitter is an example of this in action.
5 Things / A Fair Share
This week I learned about a nonprofit organization near Seattle that established a minimum base salary of $70,000. This meant that some of the 24 employees received a $20,000 raise. Many years ago, I worked for nonprofit organizations, and I can say with confidence that valuing employees in this way will go a long way towards keeping them energized, especially since many of them are BIPOC and work two jobs.

I've talked to a lot of people who were really disappointed in 2021, having entered it with such high hopes after the revolutionary DEI commitments to racial justice made in 2020. I understand that, in most organizations, the needle has barely moved in terms of diversity representation. My metric is a bit different, though.
