This week I taught my son to drive, just like I was taught – in a cemetery.

Last week I accidentally got hit with my surfboard and I still have a black eye. Last summer I fell off an electric scooter. In both cases, it was user error. Story of my life.

I'll be taking some time off this summer so 5 Things will be a little sporadic.

I'm looking forward to surf lessons, bike riding, hikes, visits to the Obama Center, abundant pickleball, teaching my son to drive...and I'm committed to meaningful conversation everywhere I go.

On Father’s Day, at my local pickleball court, the players ranged in age from 10 to 96. It was packed. Every kind of person, and they mostly got along.

Yesterday was Juneteenth and the opening day of the Barack Obama Presidential Center here in Chicago. I haven't been over there yet.
