While on vacation in a remote area, after my friends bailed, I found myself unexpectedly 1:1 with my kayak guide, Mark. We kept paddling while he asked me what I do for work, then asked what I did before that. 

Like so many, I was heartbroken when Dolly Parton left us. What a gift she was, universally beloved and respected. How rare these days.

In between games, I was speaking with a pickleball pal, Fernando, who shared that he published a memoir of short essays from his travels. So I bought it. And got completely absorbed in Fernando's spiritual quest.
